Just get here early, since long lines are quite common here. Try the Avo Toast, as it’s among the best in Sydney. Another great option is the XO tofu scramble with labneh and shallot kimchi.
Brewtown Coffee Roasters
You can find this place on a side street off King Street, in a late 19th-century brick warehouse. It offers industrial-chic vibes with plenty of space on the ground floor, while the upstairs is the bakery and the roastery. They’re very serious about coffee here, as they source their specialty coffee directly and then roasted the beans on-site.
It’s best to appreciate the coffee by drinking it black, but you can also opt for soy or milk added. There’s even a decaf option along with some cold brew and iced coffee versions. In fact, you can try their steampunk version as well, or even lemon squash, kombucha, green juice, and various types of teas.
The Goodsline Café
This was relaunched in 2021, after the lockdowns due to Covid, and the place focuses on serving the needs of early morning patrons and fans of brunch options. The brassiere-style brunch menu gives options like classic toast to go with your espresso Marscapone. Or maybe you want some mushrooms chermoula or caramelized walnuts with orange curd. You can even try the cauliflower toastie with 3 cheeses and whole-grain mustard.
They sure have lots of imaginative options here, and they may even have something for your pet dog as well. Everyone is just welcome here.
Artificer Specialty Coffee Bar and Roastery
You can find this café at Surry Hills, where plenty of the locals love their gourmet coffee. Plenty of them come here to the Artificer where the quality of the coffee is just so genuinely good. You’ll find seasonal blends from such renowned coffee bean places such as Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Guatemala, and Colombia. Here, you can enjoy filter coffee, espresso, and even cold brew. You can also buy bags of the house coffee beans to take home.
Porch and Parlour
This is a 2-room coffee shop in North Bondi with a charmingly shabby atmosphere. It features industrial tiles, peeling green paint, and even distressed walls. It’s all unpretentiously relaxed, but the freshly-roasted Will & Co coffee is just excellent. But you can also try the terrific turmeric and chai lattes, along with teas, Botanica juices, and local organic wines.
Donut King
The brand started out in Sydney, and now it has more than 300 locations scattered all over the country. You may find some standalone Donut King locations, but many of these are in malls. They’re a godsend for families taking a break from some hectic shopping.
At Donut King, you pay about $4.27 for coffee, whether it’s a cappuccino, latte, or flat white, and just a penny less for a long black. You do have iced espresso as well.
What should really get you going is that these places have more than 80 different donuts to offer, and some of them are fantastic creations designed to entice kids. It’s as if the place wants young kids to get hooked on donuts and coffee as early as possible.
For those who want something more substantial, there are also some toasties and hotdogs available as well. all in all, any Donut King location is an oasis of calmness where you can just relax and take a break.
