College Dorm Parties

If you’re a college student, then you know the importance of a good party. You’ve probably made plans with friends or found an event on social media to attend. But what about the kids in middle and high school? Are these people not partying like it’s 2005? A new study shares that children are still psyched about college dorm parties — even at a young age. Find out why kids around the country are doing keg stands and body shots this semester.

Why Are College Dorm Parties So Important?

Kids in middle and high school are like college students, except they go to school. They’re not getting their hands in the cookie jar, but they’re definitely living the good life. School is finished for these kids and summer break officially starts Friday with most camps opening up. These students will be out of school by the time campus activity begins in August. That means they can focus on their futures, which is usually college. But in the meantime, they’re going to have a blast.

“Kids are so much into all the new things that are happening,” Kevin, who graduated from high school last year and studies at a private university, told Seventeen. “They love it.”

What Are College Dorm Parties?

The ancient Greeks built a city called Sparta because there was good training for young people. The Spartans had to learn how to be good leaders so they could lead the armies in battle. That’s why most college dorm parties are held by sororities. They want to make their sisters the best at life, so they live in the best houses, wear the best dresses, go on the best dates, and have the best parties. The Greek term for this is called “coming of age.”

It was believed that if a young woman went through a series of rituals, then she would become an adult. The same thing happened to men when they went through the process of being initiated into a fraternity or sorority. The Greeks believed college dorm parties were a big part of coming of age, according to The New York Times. They were also thought to help with self-confidence and leadership.

In the olden days, a collage dorm party was exactly like we imagine: girls dressed up in their best outfits while guys drank and ate foods that they probably couldn’t eat at home. Nowadays, a college dorm party is more sophisticated. A lot of the time, it’s an event that’s thrown by a sorority or fraternity on their own property. This means students have to be invited by a member in order to attend.

The college dorm parties start fairly early, so they can be over before everyone has to wake up early for work the next morning. They begin at 10 p.m., although some start earlier in the summer. The parties usually end around 2 or 3 in the morning, according to Seventeen.

So if you’re interested in joining one of these parties, here are some tips:

1. You need to be invited to a party. If you’re not a member of the fraternity or sorority, then you won’t be allowed in. So don’t even bother asking your friends if they can get you an invitation.

2. Dress for success. If you show up looking like a mess, then people will talk about how trashy you are behind your back. If you’re going to a fancy party, then you need to dress fancy. You don’t have to wear a ball gown or anything, but make sure you’re wearing clean clothes.

3. Don’t be shy when you arrive at the college dorm parties. They’re not going to bite your head off if they don’t know who you are, so introduce yourself and make some friends!

4. Listen to the elders. The students who are older than you will be soaking up all of their wisdom. So don’t be a jerk that night and listen to what they have to say.

A Guide to College Dorm Parties

Don’t eat the food if you’re going to a collage dorm party. If you have a bad stomach, then you’ll throw up, and it won’t make anyone happy. Plus, the alcohol might make your stomach hurt even worse when it goes into your wine or beer.

Bring your own alcohol — if you’re underage. Not only is this one of the most common things you’ll hear at a college dorm party, it’s also illegal. If you’re caught bringing alcohol into a collage dorm party, then you will be in big trouble. This can lead to a possible suspension or expulsion.

Keep your phone on silent for the night of the party. Don’t blast music in the dorms and definitely don’t answer your phone. It’s rude to answer a call when people are trying to have a good time. Also, if you’re at a college party, there’s probably going to be alcohol present, so no one wants to hear your mom yelling at you for not picking up the phone!

If you’re driving home from the collage dorm party and you feel like you could be considered under the influence, then don’t get behind the wheel. Call up a friend and ask for a ride, or don’t drive at all. It’s not worth the risk!
