Most of us are guilty of snapping thousands of photos each and every year, be it on our phones or our cameras, but when in fact do we actually make the use of those photos? The reality is that for most of us those photos end up stored away and forgotten, which is something that we should all seek to avoid. Many of the world’s leading photographers like William Huyler use their images for a wide range of publications, but the rest of us don’t have that luxury.
With this being said however there is so much more that we can be doing wit our photos beyond just letting them gather dust or sit on our phones until it is time to delete. Here are some ideas as to what you can be doing with all of those photos that you are snapping.
Blowing Them Up
There is absolutely nothing wrong with making some artwork out of your photographs, at least the ones that you are most proud of. Many of us have far more ability than we realize and you will recognize this when you do take one of your images and blow it up on a large scale. There are many printshops which will do this for you and they can do it in such a way that really maintains the quality and the clarity of the image. Instead of spending money on artwork for your home, why not add your own shots instead?
Card Time
Another great idea for your images is to use them for cards, birthday and Christmas cards for example. If you do this then you can add something unique and special to those cards which you are sending to family and friends. The beauty is that you can really tailor-make each image so that the recipient gets a one of a kind card that shows you have really put some thought into it.
Selling Them Online
You may not think that your photos are good enough to be sold for publications or for home use, but you will be surprised at just how many people are happy to pay for digital images. There are a number of stock websites where people pay per image, or they pay a membership so that they can use the images which are there. All you have to do is sign up for these websites and then add your images to the library. Whenever someone decides that they wish to use your image on their website or in an advertisement, you will be able to earn royalties from this. Now this may not exactly make you a millionaire but it is nice to be able to earn a little something extra from images which you have taken, and this is a great way of doing just that.
As you can see, there is much more that you could be doing with your images than just allowing them to gather dust.
